OPUS Student +

Student+ status is granted to individuals who meet the following criteria:

• Age 19 or older on September 30 of the current academic year
• Full-time student at an institution recognized by Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec (MELS)

The steps for obtaining a Student+ OPUS card depends on where your educational institution is located. See RTC territory.

Before heading to a center

Make sure you have:

• Official photo ID indicating your date of birth (e.g., passport, health insurance card, driver’s license)
• Proof of full-time student status*
• Cost of card: $15 ($6 to produce the card and $9 to issue the status)
• Form printed and filled up.

To obtain your Student+ OPUS card or renew your Student+ status, go to one of the following RTC information centers.

Student+ status for OPUS photo ID cards is renewed at RTC Information and Service Centers. Note: Cegep Garneau, Cegep Limoilou, and Cegep Sainte-Foy also offer this service.

Before heading to a center

Make sure you have:

• Your OPUS photo ID card
• Proof of full-time student status*
• Renewal cost: $5

You must present your student card for the current academic year (card indicating your status as a full-time student). Student cards on smartphones are also accepted.

Other educational institutions

You must submit a “Proof of full-time enrollment” form filled out by the Registrar’s Office at your educational institution.

Important note

Please note that we accept winter semester registration certificates until May 31. After this date, you must present a summer semester certificate. Here are the submission periods for each semester:

• Fall semester: August 1 to December 31
• Winter semester: December 1 to May 31
• Summer semester: June 1 to July 31

• OPUS photo ID cards are valid for four years, but your Student+ status must be renewed by September 30 each year.
• You must present your OPUS photo ID card to the driver every time you board the bus.
• An OPUS photo ID card loaded with a reduced rate pass cannot be used by anyone other than the card owner.

A Student+ OPUS photo ID card is not required if you pay with a ticket because there are no reduced fares for tickets.
